Moving from Jekyll to Gatsby

For the past month or so I've been wanting to redo my personal site. I wanted to get back into the habit of writing more posts and my old site was getting very out-dated. I've started doing web development at work so I figure I could put my new skill to use in my personal work. Overall I really enjoy my sites new look and I feel like it's going to be much more manageable to work with it in the…Read More

Global Game Jam 2017: A Failed Postmortem

So Global Game Jam just happened last weekend. I didn't have the time to participate all weekend but got a lot of work done on Saturday. Sadly, the team I worked with didn't quite finish because we ran into quite a few issues with Unreal 4 . This year's theme was Waves which to me is actually a pretty good theme. This was the first year I've had a super large team. I ended up being on a team…Read More

A Quick Guide to Game Jams

If you've been interested in game development for almost any decent length of time you've probably heard of a game jam. For those that don't know a game jam is an event where you take a short period of time to create a game. These normally last 48 hours, but I've seen game jams ranging from 1 hour to 2 weeks. This might sound like a very hard task, and it can be, but it's one of the best learning…Read More

Weekly 3D Print Cobra Fan Mount

This weeks 3D print was a much needed fan upgrade for my printer. There are a lot of fan mounts out there for the Wanhao style printer. I went with the Cobra - Rear mounted cooler because of it's looks and placement on the printer. You can check out the .STL and other files over at Thingiverse.com/thing:1090433 . Almost all tutorials and forums will tell you that upgrading your fan is one of…Read More

Weekly 3D Print: Hamilton Statue

This weeks 3D printing project is actually a recap of a present I created during the holidays. My significant other is a huge fan of the Broadway play Hamilton, and I thought the logo would make for an awesome statue. Since this was a present I didn't just want to take the 2D logo and extrude it. I wanted to make something bigger and better. So I started sketching up ideas and decided to add some…Read More

My Favorite Games of Ludum Dare 37

With the final hours of LD37 coming to a close (10 hours left while I was writing this) I figured I'd recap some of my favorite games. Ludum Dare, for those who don't know, is a game jam event where participants make a game in a weekend. At the start of each Ludum Dare a theme is given out and all the games made should use the theme as inspiration. This jams theme was One Room. There are two…Read More

A Year of 3D Printing

2016 was the year of 3D printing for me. I got a job with 3D printing, I got my own 3D printer, and I started selling my own 3D designs. I thought I'd start off 2017 by making a little post recapping my escapades. The Start Of Everything Before 2016 I had barely heard about 3D printing, just a little bit hear and there. I thought it was a cool new thing but never had the time or money to get into…Read More

The Chore LD37 Postmortem

The Chore is a sequence puzzle game about cleaning a room with a dark twist. This was my 4th Ludum Dare but my first time joining the Jam instead of the Compo. I, @Cxsquared , was lucky enough to have my good friend @Moussetticus handling all the art and some of the design with me. I covered all the programming and audio for the game. Together we are pretty happy with how our game turned out…Read More

Heading To GDC

So it's less than a week before this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC) and I can't hold in my excitement. This will be my first time attending GDC, and I couldn't begin to describe how terribly excited I am. Getting the chance to step my foot into the video game industry is beyond amazing. I've already stumbled upon so many wondrous talks and parties that could last a month let alone be…Read More

Pirate Panic! Global Game Jam 2015 Post-mortem

You can check out the game at  GlobalGameJam.org  and check out the people that helped make the game Tim ,   Josh , and Geoff . This year was my second Global Game Jam and I really wanted to do things a lot different from the first year. Since last year I've  participated in several game jams and have grown enormously as a developer. I felt this growth has given me the confidence and knowledge…Read More
